Purpose of Social Media in the American Orchestra Field - Part 3 - Survey Analysis Continued

The next several survey questions ask for the opinion of the responders for their perspective on the purpose of social media, which aspects they believe they have had success, which aspects with which they would like more success, who they want to see respond to their organization, and how frequently they would like people to respond to them.

Figure 10

Since respondents may have multiple purposes for employing social media, more than one answer was allowed for the question posed in Figure 10.  The most common response for engaging in social media, with 87.5% was building awareness of their organization.  Increasing / strengthening relationships in general had a 72.4% response rate.  Increasing donations, while charting lowest, still had a response rate of 31.3%.

A large number of survey responders chose multiple categories and many chose all five categories.  The evidence of multiple responses helps to support the concept that social media is not limited to only one function.

    1. That study is flawed though in that it only examines large organization which represent less than 5% of all orchestras.
